Set a Good Example for Your Kids: High School Diploma or GED

If you have never gotten your high school diploma or GED, you can easily earn one of them online. If you have young children or plan on having children in the future, you want them to be proud of you. You want to set a good example for your children as well.

When your children reach the critical age of 16 years old, and they have that teenage attitude that comes on at times, they may tell you how much they hate high school. Your teenager may tell you repeatedly that he or she wants to quit high school. You can tell him or her that he/she will regret it, but most kids listen and follow by example. If you quit high school, he or she may easily do so, too. (After all, mom or dad quit so I can, too.)

You know you want what is best for your child/children but when teens are young and think they know better, they think quitting school is no big deal. They think they will get a job just like you did. You may have gotten yourself a great job or more then likely a “not so great” job without a high school diploma.

Times are much different these days then when you as a parent went looking for a job. Nowadays most people need at least a GED or high school diploma and even a college degree. The college degree can be from a technical college as well.

Even if it has been ten years+, you can still earn your GED or high school diploma online. Caring and helpful staff are here for you.

This Week’s Online High School Success Story

Ever since Riley can remember he has been competitive with his twin brother, Robert. Robert was always the smart one. Robert got excellent grades ever since he was in kindergarten. Robert rarely had to work at getting good grades. When Robert heard something the teacher told him, he put it in his brain and it was there to be retrieved later when needed.

Riley on the other hand had to work for good grades. Riley has ADHD which is Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Riley’s parents put him on medication to try to help him focus. It did not really work. Riley mainly zoned out. He didn’t move around and sway his hands in the air like he did before he was medicated. He got into less trouble due to his impulsiveness that comes along with ADHD. Basically Riley was a zombie.

As the years carried on, Riley got more and more frustrated. He didn’t like how his parents and extended family bragged how smart Robert was. Riley felt bad that he was not as smart. Riley did, however, excel at sports. Thankfully he was good at something, he thought.

In high school Riley started to drown further and further with all of the academic work to be done. Soon he was failing three classes. Even with help from the teachers and extra time working on his homework, he could not keep up. Soon Riley was told he could not play football due to his poor grades.

After one week and feeling devastated, Riley quit high school. He was depressed. His parents told him to go back to high school or get a job. Riley had a difficult time finding a job. Finally, Riley did some research online and found Excel High School. Riley worked at his own pace, his online teacher helped him and he is the proud holder of a high school diploma!

This Week’s Online High School Success Story

John dropped out of high school at the age of 17. He got mixed up with the wrong crowd. He started skipping school and hanging out with his buddies. He and his friends would go to house parties as many of their parents worked. Alcohol and drugs were common at the house parties. Before John knew it he was addicted to Oxycontin.

John was consistently late to school. He didn’t care about his homework, his only worry was if he had enough money to buy drugs. John lost his part-time job as a mechanic since he was late to work many times. The final blow was when John decided not to go to work and he did not even bother to call his manager.

John is now 19-years-old. After a long road to recovery, he is back on his feet. He is sober. He took online high school classes and earned his high school diploma. His parents are now paying for him to get his college degree. He is working at another shop as a mechanic. John is quite good at what he does and is up for a promotion next month.

John turned his life around by getting his high school diploma online. He knew he would be able to concentrate better if he took his classes at home. He stays away from the old group of friends and has found new friends that are not into partying. He is going to get his college degree in business and hopes to open up his own auto shop in the future.
